Kurt Okraku Is Hopeful About Black Stars’ Success Under Otto Addo Ahead Of The World Cup

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simon Okraku, has stated that the Black Stars are fully prepared to challenge global heavyweights.

The president of the Ghana Football Association spoke at a highly-profile fundraising launch at the Kempinski Hotel last Friday, 20th of March, 2026.
Okraku spoke to an audience of Ghana’s corporate executives, entertainment stars, and government leaders, including Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams and President John Dramani Mahama.
The Ghana national football team will be camped in Bryant University, where they will stay in the state of Rhode Island during the tournament.

Mr Okraku’s speech struck a defiant tone regarding Ghana’s Group L opponents, comprising the Three Lions of England, the Blazers of Croatia, and the Canal Men of Panama.
“We will not go into this tournament as underdogs. We fear no foe. And believe me, when this team lines up against Panama, against England, and against Croatia, Ghana football will speak,” Kurt sounded confident.
Okraku underlined a transformation in the Black Stars’ attitude under head coach Otto Addo, noting that, while a game against a superpower like Germany may have created fear in the past, the present group is based on confidence and tactical development.

Okraku stated, “A few years ago, if you heard a fixture like Ghana versus Germany, you’d be afraid. But today, we are very confident. The intangible assets that have been put together by Coach Addo and his team will make Ghana proud.”
The friendly, scheduled for March 27 and 30, 2026, in Vienna and Stuttgart, serves as a vital litmus test for the Black Stars following their recent qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
