Ken Ofori-Atta Appears on Interpol Red List

Ghana’s former Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, has been enlisted on the International Police Organisation (Interpol)’s Red Notice.
The 65-year-old is wanted for “using public office for profit”, the notice portrayed.
The OSP triggered processes to have Ofori Atta, extradited for investigation and prosecution on June 2, 2025, after it redeclared the former government official as a fugitive for justice.

This comes after Ofori Atta failed to honour the earlier timeline for his appearance and sent in correspondence to inform the Special Prosecutor he had been diagnosed with cancer and set for treatment on June 13, 2025, for which reason he would be unable to return to the jurisdiction as agreed.
However, it was the position of the Office that a suspect in a criminal investigation does not determine how the investigative body conducts its investigations and the methods suitable to him and his convenience.
The former Minister is required to assist in investigations into five cases including Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited & GRA Contract; ECG and Beijing Technology Limited Contract Termination; National Cathedral Project; Procurement of Ambulances; and GRA’s Tax Refund Account Payments.
The OSP says it will file criminal charges against him by the end of June.
