I’m Clearing My Name Not Betraying My Party- Adwoa Safo

Ghanaian politician and lawyer, Sarah Adwoa Safo disagrees with persons who think she is throwing her party- New Patriotic Party (NPP)- under the bus with her recent disclosures.
On the contrary, she says she is purging her name from all stains of misinformation and disinformation.
The former legislator deems it the right opportunity to redeem her reputation.
“When there is a character assassination, there is the need to set the records straight,” she said in an interview on JoyNews.
According to her, it’s about time the wrong impressions and perceptions formed about her in the minds of Ghanaians get crystalized and neutralized.
“Things that were said about me are stuck in the minds of Ghanaians. I’ve been branded the way I’m not supposed to be branded, and I owe it to myself to clear it up to let Ghanaians know my side of the story and that is not selling my party.”
Ban
The NPP in a statement on Thursday, following initial disclosures by the former Gender Minister, issued a directive banning its members from publicising internal wranglings.
The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress caused by their defeat in the election.
However, he recognises that the action is denigrating the image of the party and widening cracks within the party.
Invoking his rights under Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP’s constitution, he banned discourse on frustrations.
He noted that the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership will henceforth respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the Party.
