I Wanted To Be A Soldier- Macbones Discloses
Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah has revealed he embarked on his first trip outside Ghana to fulfil his dream of becoming a military officer abroad.
Though Freezy Macbones as he is affectionately called, had been nurturing some passion for boxing in his childhood days, his focus was to become a soldier and didn’t spare any chance at it.
He moved to the United Kingdom (UK) in 2012 purposely for that but got hindered for lack of a permanent residence.
Recounting how he abandoned the idea, he told Delay, “I wanted to be a soldier and that was the reason why I went to the UK. I gave up on the idea when the person who was helping me fill the forms couldn’t get a residential address to fill the forms.”
Upon this failure, he began taking up menial jobs to sustain himself in the foreign land.
According to him, his passion for boxing was rekindled after watching a match between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
The motivation took him to a gym in search of a trainer at 27 years old. After three years of training, he took on 18 amateur fights and lost five.
“I won my first fight. Lost the second, third, fourth, fifth and won the sixth one,” he confided in Delay.
Macbones turned a professional boxer in 2023, he shared.
