America Is The Loser In Its Visa Restriction- Ras Mubarak

Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency, Ras Mubarak, argues that the United States of America (USA) is shooting itself in the foot with the imposition of visa restrictions.

Ghana is among some African countries that America has imposed restrictions. It has imposed a new policy, reducing the validity period of B1/B2, F1 visas for Ghanaian nationals from 5 years to 3 months, with a single entry.

He acknowledged the impact this could have on Ghanaians planning to visit the US for business, tourism, or academic purposes; however, he opined that no business person will subject him/herself to such a situation.

“No serious business person will put themselves through this stress. It is not economically wise to apply for a visa to the same country every three months… The one who loses here is the U. S., especially when there are competitive and other markets to explore for business, tourism and study,” he wrote on Facebook.

He has since launched a campaign to embark on a road trip to 39 African countries, to meet governments and promote a visa-free policy for Africans travelling in Africa as a way of boosting economies and creating opportunities for Africans.

It will begin on 18th August from Accra.

“If we open Africa and create opportunities in Africa, who would want to leave this beautiful continent to go overstay in America or Europe? We have everything here. And I say this as a man who’s visited 85 countries in the world.”
