GTA Releases Regional Venues For Chocolate Day
The Ghana Tourism Authority has named 18 venues across the country for the observation of the annual Chocolate Day in partnership with the Ghana Cocoa Board, Cocoa Processing Company and other chocolatiers.
The celebration under the theme “Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy and Grow Ghana” and sub-theme “Explore Ghana, Eat Chocolate” is aimed at promoting the country’s cocoa products as well as tourist sites.
The celebration will take place at various tourist sites in the country.
The national event will take place at the recently renovated Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra with Meridian Presby Church in Tema and Accra Zoo hosting the regional celebration.
In the Ashanti Region, it will be held at the Kumasi Zoo, at the VIP Bus visitation in Ahafo, Kintampo Waterfall in Bono East, Bui National Park in Bono, Anomabo Memorial Park in Central Region, Bunso Eco Park in Eastern Region and Gambaga Witch Camp in North East Region.
In the Northern Region, the event will take place at the Red Clay Museum, Kyabobo National Park in Oti, Larabanga Mosque in Savannah, Rock Gardens Eco Resort in Upper East, Ombo Wura Mountain in Upper West, Bisa Aberwa Museum and Bosomtwe Sam Fishing Harbour in Western, Bonzain Waterfall in Western North and Wli Falls in Volta.
“This is a national celebration to highlight Ghana’s unique cocoa products and also place Ghana as the preferred destination for cocoa-based tourism while appreciating the contribution of the stakeholders within the industry,” the GTA noted.
Chocolate Day was instituted in 2005; however, the concept was expanded into Chocolate Week in 2021 and was reviewed to coincide with Valentine’s Day which falls on 14th February every year, to boost the domestic consumption of Ghanaian chocolate and other cocoa-based products.
