192 Ghanaians Evacuated After 36 Arrived On Tuesday

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced the total number of Ghanaian nationals evacuated from neighbouring countries after they fled Ukraine, now stands at one hundred and ninety-two (192).

As of noon on March 8, 2022, one hundred and eighty-one (181) Ghanaians had been brought back from countries like Poland, Hungary, and Romania but thirty-six more arrived late in the afternoon.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has welcomed 36 additional Ghanaian nationals at the Kotoka International Airport today. This brings the total number of evacuees to 192 as of 7:30 p.m., 8th March 2022”, a statement from the Ministry announced.

They were received at the airport by the government’s Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Mr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah on behalf of the Government, who assured them of the Government’s commitment to their welfare and education, the Ministry noted.

“Dr. Kwaku Brobbey Asenso, a psychiatrist, introduced the team from the Mental Health Authority and assured the students of the offer of psychological support to those who would be needing it. They indicated that the Authority would provide the students with the necessary follow-up to guarantee their mental health”, the Ministry said.
