GSS: 8Million Ghanaians Are Illiterates
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has estimated the number of illiterate Ghanaians at 7,924,409.
This figure represents people aged 6 and above.
Out of that 5,952,272 persons aged 3 years and above have never been to school according to the GSS.
11,286,990 Ghanaians aged 3 years and above are currently in school receiving education.
This is despite Ghana’s reiterated commitment to achieving the SDGs, especially for education.
Sustainable Development Goal 4 seeks to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by 2030.
