Green Ghana: Nkawie District Forestry Division to Plant 400,000 Trees
The Nkawie District Forestry Services Division in the Ashanti Region is preparing to plant approximately 400,000 trees as part of the upcoming Green Ghana Project.
The tree-planting initiative is scheduled to take place on Friday, 9th June 2023.
Mr. Christiantus Nifaasoyir, the Manager of the Nkawie District Forest Services Division, revealed this information in an interview.
In the previous year’s edition of the project, the Nkawie District Forestry Division was adjudged the National Best Forestry Division.
Mr. Nifaasoyir expressed their determination to surpass their target this year and retain the award.
He emphasized the need for the support of stakeholders and encouraged the general public to participate in the tree-planting exercise to restore and replenish the environment.
The Manager reiterated the division’s high motivation and commitment to the upcoming project, aiming to surpass expectations once again.
The Green Ghana Project, which aims to plant 10 million trees nationwide, was launched last month by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at KNUST in Kumasi.
