Gov’t Sets New Date for 2024 National Farmers Day

The government has announced November 8, 2024, as the date for this year’s edition of the National Farmers’ Day Celebration.

The original date for the annual celebration, the first Friday of December, will this year precede the country’s General Election and thereby the decision by the government.

In a letter by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, all Regional Ministers were informed the event will take place in the Greater Accra Region, adding that there will be no regional-level celebrations as has been the status quo.

“I am directed by the Honourable Minister for Food and Agriculture to inform you that His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, has confirmed Friday, 8th November 2024, as the date for the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebration.”

Alongside the national award, Regional awards will be conferred on winners, it noted.

“Each region is permitted to nominate winners for ten (10) regional award categories. These awardees are required to travel to Accra on Friday, 5th November 2024, where they will be honoured at the Awards Night Ceremony, taking place at 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge. At this ceremony, Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions.”

All Regional Ministers and their Regional Directors of Agriculture have thus been directed to attend the Awards Night Ceremony.

“Your presence and support will play a vital role in celebrating and recognising the invaluable contributions of our farmers to national development.”
