Ghana will Go Cashless by 2028 in my Gov’t- Mahama
The leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to digitalise payment for services rendered by the government in the next four years when he is elected as President.
His intention is to phase out corruption in payment for services across the country.
As part of this, he said the use of Point of Sale (PoS) devices would be mandatory.
“We will continue digitalising our revenue collection and payment systems. By 2028, we aim to phase out cash as a form of payment for all government services. We will also entrench the use of POS devices in transactions to make taxes and levies collection more transparent.”
He was giving the keynote address at the eighth Ghana CEO Summit in Accra on May 27.
