GES Extends Deadline for Teacher Self-placement

Some technical disruptions have forced the Ghana Education Service (GES) to extend the deadline for the teacher self-placement exercise by the first batch of Colleges of Education degree holders.

This was announced in a statement by the Head of Public Relations of the Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

This means that the portal which was scheduled to close on July 31 and the submission of the appointment letter on August 7 will all now take place on August 21.

“The extension has become necessary due to unforeseen technical difficulties with the recruitment portal which are currently being addressed by our technical team.”

The GES further apologised for the inconvenience saying, it “appreciates your patience as we work to resolve this issue and complete the self-posting process”.

It added, “Applicants are advised to monitor the GES website and other official communication channels for regular updates”.

The self-placement portal was opened on July 5 to allow 12,784 applicants to choose their preferred region, district, and school for their posting.

Processes
As part of the process, applicants are directed to enter their phone number and NTC number accurately to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on their provided phone number.

They can then select their preferred region, district, and school, submit their application, and save and print the appointment letter.

Each appointment letter includes a QR code that can be scanned with their smartphones to confirm the letter’s authenticity.

Once done, successful applicants are required to visit their respective Regional Education Directorates with their Ghana Card and other necessary documents for further verification and instructions.
