Friday Is Not A Holiday- Interior Minister
The Ministry of Interior has clarified that November 8, 2024, will not be a public holiday despite being commemorated as Farmers’ Day.
This was contained in a press statement issued on November 5.
“The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 8th November, 2024 is not a public holiday even though the 2024 National Farmers Day will be held that day.”
It noted that the holiday will be held on December 6 in accordance with the original Farmers’ Day celebration.
“Friday, 6th December which marks Farmers Day, remains a statutory public holiday and will be observed as such throughout the country.”
Farmers’ Day
The original date for the annual celebration is the first Friday of December.
However, this year, it will precede the country’s General Election and thereby the decision by the government to reschedule the celebration ahead of time.
In a letter by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, all Regional Ministers were informed the event will take place in the Greater Accra Region on November 8, adding that there will be no regional-level celebrations as has been the status quo.
