ECG Announces Special Operation To Recover Outstanding Customer Debt

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced it will be embarking on a special operation to recover outstanding debts from its customers next week.

During an operation dubbed “Operation Zero”, the ECG said its staff will be deployed to the premises of customers to demand payment of bills; capture customers who are not in their database and bill them instantly.

This will start on July 11 and end on September 11.

According to the company, the operation will take place with the help of the security agencies.

The move is to help arrest and prosecute persons who may try to interfere or hamper the operation.

It notes during this period, customers enjoying electricity without paying for it will be granted a moratorium “to allow them to visit their respective ECG offices for immediate regularization of their supply.”

“In view of the exercise, the regional and district offices will operate with a lean staff pool who will provide essential service to customers to enable total participation by top management and staff,” a notice from the company on July 4 said.
