Coach Ogum Figures Out How To End Win Drought

Coach Prosper Ogum has figured out how to end the win drought that has hit the Porcupine Warriors after recording their second draw in three matches this season.

He is pleased with the creation of chances by the players but could not hide his distress about the team’s inability to convert the chances into their advantage.

“It’s better to create the chances and if you miss, it’s good than you don’t create at all because if you create it means the possibility of scoring is high. We are creating more…so it’s a good signal for the team,” he is quoted as saying Citisports.

The Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach will now focused on building the players’ confidence before the 18 yards box.

“All that we have to do is to keep practicing more goal scoring drills, giving them the confidence to be composed in front of goal, they need to pick their spot, apply the right technique and then that should be it.”

After three matches, Kotoko has recorded a loss and two draws.

They will be tavelling to the home of Accra Lions on Monday for their fourth fixture of the season.

So far, fans have been supportive of the club but there are fears that they may grow tired if the winless streak persists.

Five thousand three hundred and seventy-three (5,373) fans bought tickets for Sunday’s game against Karela United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, according to reports.

In a post-match interview, midfielder Baba Yahaya urged fans to be patient with the team as they are determined to improve upon their performance.

Notwithstanding, he said the team is not pressured.

“We are not feeling pressured because our coach has always emphasized that he is building the team. While we understand that every point is crucial in the league, we are focused on building a strong team and we are optimistic about delivering better results in our next game,” he cited as saying by KickGh.

Kotoko after match week three are next to last on the league table. Currently leading are promoted Bofoakwa Tano FC.
