Deepen Collaboration with Neighbours for Safety of Ghanaians- Bawumia to Govt

The 2028 Presidential candidate of the new Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged the government to take pragmatic steps to safeguard the safety of Ghanaians across the globe.

Reacting to the death of some Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso in a terrorist attack over the weekend, he suggested deepened intelligence collaboration with all neighbouring countries.

“I urge the government to deepen intelligence collaboration with all our neighbours to ensure Ghanaians are protected wherever they find themselves. Our well-established framework for preventing and countering violent extremism and terrorism should be strengthened,” he wrote on Facebook while expressing shock at the news.

He posited that Ghanaian traders must not be left to such peril as they go about their trade.

Meanwhile, he expressed his condolences to the families of the bereaved and best wishes to the injured.

The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that seven Ghanaian traders were killed while others sustained injuries when they were caught up in an extremist attack at Titao in northern Burkina Faso.
