Court Remands Fisherman Who Assaulted His Wife in Viral Video
The Gender-based Violence Court in Accra has remanded fisherman Nii Baah Afful into police custody for assault.
The 29-year-old suspect was captured in a viral video physically assaulting his wife, 21-year-old Francisca Aryce, as she carried their 8-month-old baby.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Korle Gonno, a suburb of Accra, after a misunderstanding between the couple, a statement by the police said.
“According to preliminary investigations, the suspect and the victim, Francisca Aryce, 21, live together and have two children. The victim attempted to leave for her mother’s house but was pursued and assaulted by the suspect.”
He was arrested by the Police Intelligence Unit of the Region on Friday, March 22, 2025, and arraigned in court on March 25.
He will reappear in court on April 9, 2025.
Meanwhile, the police statement said the victim has been traced and identified to receive necessary medical care and counselling.
