Cook-a-thon: Record-Breaking Attempt Enters Day Two
Ghanaian chef, Abdul Razak Failatu, has entered day two of her attempt to break Alan Fisher’s Longest Cooking Marathon record.
Her adventure was advertised to span for five days after commencing on Monday midnight at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale in the Northern Region.
She is on the quest to break Fisher’s 119 hours 57 which was certified by Guinness World Records (GWR) in November 2023 with her 120-hour marathon.
Meanwhile, a Ugandan chef by the name Dorcus Bashema Kirabo, alias Mama D is reported to have gone 144 hours, seven minutes and 24 seconds, yet to be certified by the GWR.
Irish chef Fisher managed to break Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s 93 hours and 11 minutes record with his 119 hours and 57 minutes of cooking in November.
He spent nine days cooking 590 kg worth of dishes, that is 3,360 portions consisting of 32 recipes and baking 357 kg worth of soda bread, Guinness Record said.
Chef Faila’s attempt comes after Afua Asantewaa Aduonum ended an attempted sing-a-thon record before the end of 2023, singing local songs to promote Ghana at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.
She did 126 hours 53 minutes which ended on Thursday, December 28 aimed at breaking India’s Sunil Waghmare’s record of 105 hours in 2012.
