‘Calling for My Sack at the Moment is Premature – Kotoko Coach Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Abdul Karim Zito still believes he doesn’t deserve to be jettisoned at this moment of the season as some fans are calling for but has rather urged the supporters to rally behind the team especially in a Super-Clash week.
The ‘Kum Apem’ lads had their woes deepened after once again a very painful defeat to Aduana FC via penalty shootouts to exit the MTN FA Cup over the weekend in a thrilling round of 16 showdown at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The experienced gaffer has come under a huge scrutiny in the last few weeks following the Porcupine Warriors’ inconsistent run but has already given his word that he is looking to up the ante to get their season back on right path.
Majority of the supporters present at the venue last Sunday, February 8, were very irate and expressed a huge displeasure towards the performance of some of the players and strongly questioned the coach’s output and have started advocating for his dismissal.
In response to those claims from the fans, Zito, who is also a former player of the club, said sacking him at the moment won’t be the best time and feels the team rather needs their supporters this time more than ever to help transform their season.
“Calls for my dismissal are premature. I ask the fans to support the team as we hope to achieve our target,” Zito said.
Despite exiting the league cup, Asante Kotoko is still having their league winning hopes alive as they currently sit in fifth position on the table with 35 points, eight adrift the top-spot after 21 games.
Asante Kotoko will be up for a ‘make or break’ clash against their sworn and eternal rivals Hearts of Oak in the next round of matches on Sunday, February 15, in Kumasi.
