C/R: Domestic Gas Explosion Leaves Four With Serious Burns

At least four people have suffered severe burns after a domestic gas explosion at their residence at Ntrano near Cape Coast.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the explosion followed an attempt by the victims to connect their refilled LGP cylinder to a burner.
“A faulty valve seal caused a gas leakage, which ignited upon contact with a naked flame, leading to an explosion,” it said in a statement.
A crew from the Central Regional Headquarters Substation of the GNFS swiftly responded to the explosion.
“Upon arrival, the Crew noticed four people sustained varying degrees of burns. The victims were rescued and handed over to the National Ambulance Service to be transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.”
It said the remaining gas in the cylinder had been safely disposed of by the fire crew.
