Barca Win 27th La Liga Title
Barcelona have won their first La Liga title since 2019.
Their 27th title came on Sunday night after their 4:2 win against relegation-bound Espanyol at RCDE Stadium.
An 11th-minute strike by Robert Lewandowski with an assist from Alejandro Balde found the back of the net to open the score sheet for Barcelona.
Nine minutes later, Pedro González López assisted Balde to give Barca their second goal.
Lewandowski fired home his second goal of the night just before the first half came to an end for the Blaugrana.
Jules Olivier Koundé made it four for Barca in the 53rd minute.
20 minutes later, Espanyol got their first goal of the night through Javi Puado. Their second goal came in injury time through José Luis Mato Sanmartín.
Barcelona have been declared winners despite having four games left.
With 85 points, they are 14 points clear of defending Champions Real Madrid.
Madrid has the highest number of titles (35) when it comes to La Liga. They are followed by Barca who now have 27, Atletico Madrid at 11, Athletic Club at 8 and Valencia at 6.
Lewandowski is leading as the season’s top goal scorer with 21 goals after making 30 appearances in 34 played matches.
Barca has won 27 of their matches, recording four draws and 3 losses. They have 64 goals so far and conceded 13.
They will face Real Sociedad on Saturday.
