Asantehene Refers Kwapra Chieftaincy Dispute to Committee

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has referred the dispute involving Royals, the Family Head and the Obaapanin of Kwapra to a committee.
The four member-committee is made up of Amankyeahene, Prabonhene, Ofoasehene and Otumfuo Kyeame Banahene.
The committee was set up by the Occupant of the Golden Stool on January 27, 2025, at the second meeting of the year of the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC).
The traditional authorities were charged with the responsibility of delving deep into the roots of the stool for the bona fide owners.
“The dispute relates to royalty; therefore, your task is to identify the woman for whom the stool was created and her descendants to resolve this enigma.”
The Asantehene also instructed the disputing factions to submit their respective family trees to the committee for scrutiny.
“You all must also draw your family trees and present them to the committee for the final determination. The chiefs will give you a fair hearing, so you make your respective cases before them.”
Destoolment
It will be recalled that in December 2023, the Asantehene ended the rulership of Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, Kwaprahene, by destooling him.
His destoolment came after he was found guilty of the illegal sale of lands, multiple sales of lands, embezzlement of stool funds and the display of contempt towards the occupant of the Golden Stool and the Akwamu Division.
