AirtelTigo Denies Owing ECG GHC1 Million
Telecommunication company AirtelTigo has discredited reports that it owes the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) an amount of GHc1 million.
In a statement dated April 18, the company said the media reports were misleading.
It emphasised that bills that date back to 2022 had been settled in accordance with its agreed payment plan with the ECG.
“We would like to confirm that all previous bills from last year, 2022 as well as January 2023, March 2023 and even part of February 2023 have been duly settled as per the payment plan with the ECG.”
This, the company stated, has been proven to the ECG.
AirtelTigo in its statement stressed its dedication to honouring all its financial obligations and noted that payments are made in accordance with its billing process and timelines.
We remain committed to transparency and compliance with all legal and financial obligations and we appreciate the continued support of our valued stakeholders and customers.
It was reported that the ECG had stormed the Office of the telecommunication company in Accra on Monday to demand payment of GHC1 million owed the former.
The ECG is embarking on a nationwide revenue mobilisation exercise due to which the ECG visits all customers in arrears to demand payment.
