Actor Waakye Reported Dead After Failure To Secure Bed At Korle Bu
Veteran Ghanaian actor, Prince Yawson, known on set as “Waakye” has passed on.
He died at the 37 Military Hospital on August 2, 2022, following an illness unofficially reported as a stroke.
A report indicates that the actor died after he was confronted with the issue of a shortage of beds at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital where he was rushed on Monday night.
This was recounted by film producer and actor Bob Smith Jr.
According to him, the family of Waakye moved him to the 37 Military hospital where he eventually passed away.
Bob is quoted by Graphic Online to have said that “After being unsuccessful in securing a bed for him at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), the family eventually took him to the 37 Military Hospital where they managed to get him a bed after a lot of hustle.
“He had such a restless night till he finally gave up the ghost in the afternoon of Tuesday. He was such a humble person and I will really miss him”.
