A Look at Smart Classroom Fitted at OWASS
Some images released by the Minister for Education, Hon Yaw Osei Adutwum, portray the establishment of a Smart Classroom at the Opoku Ware Senior High School popularly known as OWASS in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
He calls it the “future of education in Ghana”.
The picture portrays a fully airconditioned horseshoe seating classroom with a tablet for each student, a projector and a marker board.
According to the Minister, it is a newly completed facility at the school.
“Welcome to the future of education in Ghana! This newly completed smart classroom at Opoku Ware SHS is a glimpse into the future of education in our beloved country.”
He believes this will have a positive impact on learning in the country’s educational system.
“I am thrilled about our progress and eager to see the incredible achievements our students will make in this innovative space.”
The government earlier this year launched the Smart School project aimed at transforming classrooms, teaching methods, infrastructure, and educational programs to better meet the needs of 21st-century learners.
It also focuses on online learning and digitalization.
As part of this project, the government plans on distributing 1.3 million tablets with access to online educational resources to high school students (SHS) across Ghana and constructing 100 smart schools across Ghana’s 16 regions, Resilient Digital Africa reports.
Construction work on the first 30 smart schools is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year while the remaining 70 schools will follow over the next two years.
