Majority Leader Cuts E-levy Cake On Birthday, Ghanaians React
The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Bonsu, has cut an E-levy-designed cake for his birthday celebration.
The politician who has been championing the passage of the Electronic Transactions Levy clocked 65 on February 3 which called for a celebration.
Footage circulating on social media showed the embattled politician at the birthday bash, cutting green coloured E-levy writing of a cake.
Among the guests present was the veep, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s catalyst to digitalisation, who in time past said taxing Mobile Money (MOMO) is not a good idea.
The development has been met with a feeling of mixed reaction among social media users. A few find it funny while the majority find it as a mockery of the Ghanaian people.
E-levy, one of the issues dominating public discourse, has been highly rejected by Ghanaians.
