Kumawood As A Movie Industry Does Not Exist – Big Matt

The Emerging Movie Director, Mr .Adu Agyemang Matthew popularly known as Big Matt has noted that there is nothing like Kumawood Movie Industry in Ghana.
He explained that the CEO of Kumawood Tv is a co-Director.
He organized an award for Kumasi moviemakers and named it Kumawood Awards.
Most of the winners were in Kumasi so people after the awards presumed that every movie maker in Kumasi is a Kumawood movie maker.
In an interview with Mr. Black on Kumasefie Saturday, September 4th, 2021, the movie Director emphasized the fact that there is a mentally that movies tagged as Kumawood are movies without professionals which is never true
The Heart of movie-making in Ghana is in Kumasi and every movie maker in Kumasi is part of Ghallywood.
“The Change of Marketing platform to digital has been our major challenge.
This is because the targeted Audience of Movies in Kumasi is our Parent so getting them to the digital world was a problem”, he added.
‘Movie making in Ghana is the 2nd largest employing body.
It takes more than 50 people to come out with a single movie but money to financed it is always a problem, the Movie Director said.
“The Government should help introduce a film bill to help regulate the activities of movie industry because most of the movies does not educate, entertain and inform” he added.
