A/R: Regional Minister to Brief Mahama on Status of Kejetia Market Phase II

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Frank Amoakohene, will brief President John Dramani Mahama on the progress of the construction of the Kejetia Market Phase II project, which has stalled since 2023.
The Minister visited the construction site on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, to check on its status.
In a Facebook post on February 12, he said he will be delivering a comprehensive report to the President on the timelines and logistical requirements for its completion.
“On behalf of John Dramani Mahama, I visited Kejetia Market, starting with Phase II, where I inspected the progress of work. My objective was to get a first-hand impression of the status of construction to properly brief H.E. John Dramani Mahama on the timelines and logistical requirements necessary for its completion.”
Kejetia Market Phase 2 is one of the key projects halted three years ago under the Akufo-Addo government due to a lack of funding.
At a meeting with former Ashanti Regional Regional House of Chiefs in November 2023, former Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah admitted, “All the projects boil down to finance. The money is not available and so we cannot do anything about it.”
Stakeholders, particularly traders consistently to no avail urged the then President to find funding.
