Mahama’s Short-term Appointment of Full Cabinet Symbolises Dedication to Effective Governance- Presidency
The Presidency has affirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to running an effective government and addressing pressing issues in the country.
This commitment, it said, is evident in his appointment of all cabinet ministers within two weeks of assuming power.
In a press statement issued on January 22, it said the timing of the appointment is unprecedented and attests to his determination to reset the country.
“He has set a historic precedent as the first president in Ghana’s history to announce a full cabinet within two weeks of assuming office.
“This swift action exemplifies his dedication to effective governance and his determination to address the pressing issues confronting the Ghanaian.”
Additionally, it reaffirmed the President’s dedication to fulfilling all his campaign promises.
The President has named 42 officials to work under his administration as the sixth head of state and government. He began announcing his nominations on January 15, 2025, a week after his inauguration.
Of the list, 16 are Regional Ministers, three are Ministers of State and the rest are sector Ministers.
All his sector Ministers were drawn from parliament except three: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah for Defence, Adjei Kenneth Gilbert for Works, Housing, and Water Resources and George Opare-Addo for Youth and Empowerment.
Meanwhile, only seven of the 42 are women.
