Get Children Interested in Constitutional Rights and Obligations – Kate Addo

Lead facilitator for the Duo Concept Foundation, Ms. Kate Addo, has emphasised the need to increase civil education at the basic level on the constitutional rights and obligations of citizens.

Speaking during an interactive session with some selected pupils from Mamprobi, a suburb of Greater Accra, Ms. Addo underscored the relevance of the exercise at the primary level to promote better understanding and appreciation of the laws.

“It is essential to give pupils a head start to appreciating the laws of the country, this effort will promote discipline and patriotism.” 

The Duo Concept Foundation, in collaboration with the Governance Africa Foundation as part of the exercise distributed over 1,000 copies of the 1992 constitutions of Ghana to the pupils present and teachers, as a means to encourage them to familiarise themselves with the laws.

“We can secure a better and more disciplined future if we encourage the young ones to read more about the laws and obligations as citizens.”

Other speakers, including Fafali Peace and retired psychologist Dr. Tina, both underscored the importance of the exercise. They encouraged civil society and institutional bodies to take a keen interest in efforts to secure an enlightened society.
