Fatimatu, Okoe-Boye Appointed Information and Health Ministers
Former Deputy Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar will now take over from her boss Kojo Oppong Nkrumah following the reshuffling of Ministers by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The reshuffling announced on Wednesday is also seeing the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye taking over from Kwaku Agyeman Manu in the Health Ministry.
Okoe Boye was once the Deputy Minister for Health but got reshuffled when he lost his seat as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region in the 2020 parliamentary elections.
Designated Ministers
The Minister for Okaikwei South Constituency, Darkoa Newman will now replace Lariba Abudu at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection while Ophelia Mensah Hayford, the MP for Mfantsiman Constituency takes over from Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.
With Freda Prempeh heading out, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency takes over as the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources while former Deputy Energy Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer takes over from Ibrahim Mohammed Awal at the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.
Additionally, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah is taking over from his boss, Dan Botwe at the Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development Ministry.
With regards to the Oti and Greater Accra regions Titus Glover and Daniel Machator respectively succeed.
Deputy Ministers Designates
Thirteen have been appointed deputy ministers by the President including the MP for Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah who now goes to the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development.
Sylvester Tetteh, MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency goes to Information Ministry; Charles Acheampong, MP for Lower West Akim Constituency to Communication and Digitalisation; Adelaid Ntim, MP for Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo Constituency and Alexander Akwasi Acquah, MP for Akim Oda constituency to Health.
Kwesimintsim MP Prince Hamidu Armah goes to the Works and Housing, Manhyia North MP Akwasi Konadu to the Lands Ministry, Mion MP Abdul-Aziz Ayaba Musah to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministry, John Kobina Sanie and Collins Adomako Mensah to the Energy Ministry, Kingsley Nyarko to Education Ministry, Festus Awuah Kwofie to Employment and Labour Ministry and Benjamin Sekyere Yeboah to Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The appointments are pending Parliamentary approval.
Reassigned Ministers of State
Former Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey is now the Minister for State at the Interior Ministry with former Minister for Works and Housing Francis Asenso Boakye taking over as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Roads and Highways and former Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah taking over as Minister of State at the Works and Housing Ministry.
Ambrose Dery is now a Minister of State at the Office of the President while Mohammed Amin Adam takes over as the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
The President has also appointed Abdulai Abanga as the Deputy Minister of State for the Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development.
