Atwimahene Urges Government to Address Abandoned Kwadaso-Takyiman-Boko to Trabuom Road Network

Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, the Atwimahene, has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating state of the Kwadaso-Takyiman-Boko to Trabuom road network in the Ashanti region. The traditional leader highlighted the adverse impact of the dilapidated roads on the well-being of the local community, as well as the hindrance it poses to the movement of people and goods.

According to Nana Antwi, the construction of these roads began approximately six years ago but has since been left in an appalling condition, resembling a death trap.

Despite several petitions sent to Hon Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and Hon Amoako Atta, the Minister of Roads, no substantial action has been taken thus far.

Nana Antwi urgently calls on the government to reconsider the allocation of the road project to a new contractor.

During a recent presentation of firefighting equipment to the Atwima-Boko Fire Services Station, Nana Antwi emphasized the importance of pragmatic measures to address the dire state of the road network. He warned that the significance of the community’s sacrificial gesture would be undermined if prompt action is not taken.

Some residents of Takyiman, Boko, and Twedie also expressed deep concerns regarding the abandoned road network and  called upon the government to intervene and rectify the situation.

Additionally, they refute claims made by the Ministry of Roads that the road network has been completed and asphalted, cautioning that if left unaddressed, the consequences will soon become evident.

In response to the pressing issue, Hon Prince Kakari, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, acknowledged the validity of these concerns. He agreed that the poor state of the road network is a significant problem in the district.
