Harris Meets Akufo-Addo
The vice President of the United States of America (USA), Kamala Harris has met President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following her arrival in the country on Sunday.
She will spend three days and proceed to Tanzania and Gambia to conclude her week-long visit to Africa on April 2.
Welcoming the Vice President at a meeting at the Jubilee House on Monday, March 27, President Akufo-Addo said he was delighted to reciprocate the hospitality he received when he visited the White House in September 2021.
“Welcome and I’m hoping that the three days that will be fruitful days and memorable days for you and for us as well.”
On her part, Kamala highlighted, “as President of Ghana, you have been very courageous and forward in terms of standing for democratic principles and we have shared commitments to those ideals”.
In addition to that, she said conversations on security and prosperity of the African continent will be furthered.
“I’m also here to discuss a number of issues with you in furtherance of the conversation we started two years ago that relates to our shared interest in the prosperity and security of Ghana and of this continent. So I look forward to that conversation. It will range in terms of the work that we have done and we continue to do on the issue of security in this region in particular of the African continent.
“But also in the work that we will continue to do that is about American investment in the wellbeing and health and prosperity of this region- the benefit narrowed to the people of Ghana and by extension the people on this continent and the American people.”
