Parliament Says It Hasn’t Adopted CI To Make Ghana Card Sole Registration Document   

Parliament of Ghana has disputed Ghanaian Times publication on passage of Constitutional Instrument (CI) to adopt Ghana card as a sole registration document for 2024 general elections.

A communique from public affairs directorate of Parliament signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Madam Kate Addo, said parliament has not passed any Constitutional Instrument (CI) to adopt Ghana card as sole registration document.

The communique was released upon a news story Ghanaian Times posted on Friday 24th February, 2023 with the headline, “Registration of Voters: Parliament adopts CI to make Ghana card sole registration document” by Julius Yao Petetsi.

The report says, Parliament does not pass constitutional instrument but rather holds discussions and presentations on CI to gather contributions and draft CI which was the exact thing parliament did on Thursday 24th February 2023.

The public must therefore disregard the information that Parliament has adopted CI on Ghana card as the only registration document, the statement said.

The communique further advised all media personnel to report authentic information and contact authorities for clarification on issues that seem unclear to them.
