MTTD Officers “Brutalise” Suspect Over Marijuana
Two Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) officers have appeared in a viral video brutalising a civilian alleged to own a bag containing cannabis.
The civilian who wore dreadlocks was captured struggling to free himself from the two officers who had pinned him to the ground.
It appears the officers wanted to force him into a car parked nearby, however, he resisted.
He kept repeating the bag doesn’t belong to him.
In retaliation, the officers slapped him in the face and on his head and repeatedly kicked and punched him.
In all, the officers appeared mal-handling their suspect.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to comment on the issue but the action of the officers have generally been condemned by a section of social media users.
“Hmmm Can’t comment cos I do t know the whole story but the level of brutality is too much for God’s sake to the extent of stamping the face. He is human for Christs sake”
Another commented, “You are beating someone because of weed! Meanwhile, we have officers in the service who smoke and by the time this weed gets to court, it will turn into something else!! As if we dont know!!”
