Akufo-Addo Defends His Ministers Against Reshuffle

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has defended his ministers against calls for ministerial reshuffling from a section of the Ghanaian populace.

According to the President of Ghana, the majority of the ministers have done outstandingly well in their line of duties and therefore need not to be reassigned to new positions.

“That is a matter that I will take in an appropriate way. Several of the people who are responsible for assisting me in steering the country out of the difficulty we inherited and the difficulties that have subsequently come are still in place. And many of them have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable and that is what I look at.”

He assumes that calls for reshuffling in his government are coming from some persons in the opposition party who intend to destabilise his government as well as those from his political party seeking to get appointments.

“The call comes from reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise (my) government and there are people who are also looking for jobs”.

But he indicated that assessing the performance of his ministers is “a daily preoccupation” for him.

“I’m required on a daily basis to ask myself whether the output of particular ministers is up to the mark. I am the final authority and if they are not up to mark I’m required to act. But if the output measures up to expectation, then I don’t have strong reasons to heed the call”, he asserted.
