Police Outdoor Traffitech-GH to Automate Traffic Law Enforcement

The Ghana Police Service has announced that the Traffitech-GH project, which aims to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations in Ghana, officially took effect on November 1, 2026.

In a press release dated November 4, 2026, the Director-General of Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Police said the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has outdoored the automation system to ensure compliance with road traffic laws.

As part of the initiative, motorists are reminded to observe road traffic regulations and follow the approved procedures for verifying and paying traffic fines.

The Police advised motorists to first check if the official Sender ID is GPS-MTTD, noting that genuine traffic violation notifications will not be sent from an ordinary mobile phone number.

Motorists should then open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket to view and confirm the vehicle’s photograph and number plate, the location, date, and time, and watch the video where available.

Payment can be made through the NIB Payment Portal by clicking on the link traffitech-ghpay.nib.com.gh, selecting Make Payment, entering the Ticket Number, checking the details and following the payment prompts. Payment can also be made through USSD by dialing *710_0# and following the prompts to pay using the Ticket Number.

In an important safety reminder, the Police strongly advised motorists and vehicle owners to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraud. Motorists should never pay a traffic fine into a personal mobile-money number or through any unofficial account.

The Ghana Police Service expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support of the general public, particularly motorists, vehicle owners and transport operators, as they work together to promote safer roads and ensure compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.
