GNFS Saves 44 Shops As Fire Guts 8 Shops At Aboabo Bola Market in Kumasi

The quick intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has prevented total destruction at the Aboabo Bola Market near Zuria FM in Kumasi on Monday, October 12, 2026, after a fire swept through eight shops.

The affected shops, out of a cluster of 52 dealing in metallic cooking wares and other appliances, were gutted before firefighters could contain the blaze.

Personnel from Asokore Mampong, KATH, Bremang and KNUST Fire Stations, backed by a water tanker from the Regional Headquarters, battled the inferno and successfully salvaged the remaining 44 shops and their contents.

No casualties were recorded, the Ashanti Regional PRO of the GNFS confirmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, while the Service has renewed its call on traders to observe strict fire safety measures and keep firefighting equipment handy.
