FDA Destroys 40ft Container of Unwholesome Bale Diapers Imported From Spain

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), together with other stakeholders, has supervised the safe disposal of a 40-foot container of non-compliant imported bale diapers at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site at Shai Hills.
The diapers, described as loose, unpackaged and unhygienic, were imported from Spain and were destroyed to prevent unsafe products from reaching the Ghanaian market.
According to the Authority, the container was intercepted during a joint inspection exercise at the Tema Port by officials of the FDA, the GRA-Customs Division and National Security.
The disposal was carried out at the cost of the importer, who was also slapped with other statutory fines.
The FDA has urged importers to secure all required approvals from the Authority before importation to avoid sanctions and to protect public health and safety.
