Asantehene Gifts Land to GRNMA for Retirement Housing Project

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has gifted a plot of land to the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) for the development of a retirement apartment project to support retiring members.
This disclosure was made when the national and regional executive officers of the Association joined the grand celebration of the 7th Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
The delegation used the occasion to express their profound gratitude to the Asantehene for his continuous support for healthcare workers.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the delegation explained that while national executives are based in Accra and periodically visit members across the country, they chose this milestone event specifically to engage the Ashanti Region.
They recalled beseeching Otumfuo some time ago to request land to construct residential apartments for members upon their retirement.
“We arrived some time ago to seek land for our members’ residences after retiring from active service. Otumfuo tasked Apagyahene with this matter, which he has addressed, and we came to express our gratitude.”
The Asantehene subsequently tasked Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV, Apagyahene, to handle the request, which has now been successfully finalised, prompting their visit to present their heartfelt appreciation.
The high-level GRNMA delegation present at the palace was led by National President Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, alongside National First Vice President Mr Samuel Alagkora Akolgo Esq., Deputy General Secretary Mr Anthony Sopaal, Ashanti Regional Chairman Mr Jones Afriyie Anto, Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman Mr. Philemon Adu, and Ashanti Regional Secretary Mr. Ebenezer Acquah, among other representatives.
