NACOC Commits To Protecting Youth From Illicit Drug Abuse Linked to Violent Extremism

The Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Mr Stephen Yeboah, has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the youth.
According to him, the Commission is positioning itself to tackle illicit drug abuse among the youth, which he said triggers most acts of violent extremism in society.
Mr Yeboah gave the assurance when he delivered a keynote address at a National Dialogue event organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Accra on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The dialogue was held under the theme: “Sustaining Post-Election Peace and Strengthening Community Resilience Against Emerging Security Threats in Southern Border Communities of Ghana.”
He appealed to key stakeholders, particularly traditional leaders, to ensure that young people are properly mentored and guided in their upbringing.
Mr Yeboah also called for sustainable community partnerships to bridge gaps and enhance coexistence among families, noting that such collaboration would help check nefarious activities being perpetrated by recalcitrant individuals in society.
