Cybersecurity Compliance Is Not Optional For Critical Information Infrastructure Owners – Minister

The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has stressed that cybersecurity obligations are not optional for owners of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII).
He said this while speaking at the workshop on “CII Resilience Beyond IT: Securing Ghana’s Operational Technology Ecosystem,” organised by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in partnership with Cybershield as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2026.
The Minister, in his speech, emphasised that compliance with the Directive for the Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure is essential to responsible digital operations and national resilience.
He therefore urged CII owners to ensure effective cybersecurity governance.
He also encouraged them to uphold accredited cybersecurity leadership, timely incident reporting, regular audits and vulnerability assessments, and the engagement of only Tier 1 licensed cybersecurity service providers.
