2023 National Best Female Farmer Donates GH¢100k to Support 2026 Winner

The 2023 National Best Female Farmer, Madam Edith Akosah Wheatland, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the 2026 National Best Female Farmer award.
Madam Wheatland, who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rockland Farms, presented the cheque to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Presenting the donation, Madam Wheatland said the gesture was to support the 2026 winner and to encourage other past National Best Farmers to give back to the agricultural sector.
“Supporting women in agriculture with access to finance, markets and technology is critical to enabling them to grow their businesses and contribute meaningfully to their families, communities and the wider food system,” she noted.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, commended Madam Wheatland and Rockland Farms for their contribution towards the National Farmers’ Day celebration.
He called on Corporate Ghana and all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the celebration through donations and other forms of assistance to honour the nation’s farmers and ensure the successful organisation of the event.
Hon. Opoku assured stakeholders that all donations received would be used for their intended purposes.
The donation forms part of preparations towards the 42nd National Farmers’ Day, which is being celebrated under the theme “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future.”
The national celebration is scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2026, in Sunyani in the Bono Region.
