Nana Akua’s Husband Hospitalised On Day of Court Appearance – Police

The Ghana Police Service has revealed that the husband at the centre of the viral domestic abuse case involving Rosemond Akua Adobea, also known as Nana Akua, failed to appear in court on Wednesday after claiming to have been hospitalised.
In a press statement issued on October 7, 2026, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Police said the suspect, Harold Norman, was scheduled to be brought before court, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and could not make it.
The Police say DOVVSU investigators have since been dispatched to the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge.
This comes after the Director-General of the CID received a petition from the victim, Rosemond Akua Adobea, on August 20, 2026, alleging prolonged physical, emotional and economic abuse by her husband.
Police records show the couple’s case had previously been handled by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026, before the fresh petition.
The suspect was arrested at his residence on August 27, 2026, cautioned, and later granted Police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29, while investigations continued.
The CID says it is now working with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare support for the victim and her children.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly,” the statement signed by CID PRO, Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah, stressed.
