Foreign Ministry Announces 2027 Mo Ibrahim Foundation Leadership in Ethiopia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, is offering the 2027 Mo Ibrahim Foundation Leadership Fellowship Programme at the ECA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a period of 12 months.
In a public announcement dated 5th October, 2026, the Ministry said the programme is aimed at enabling young African professionals to develop leadership capacity in a large institution, gain knowledge of the functioning of the United Nations, deepen their understanding of Africa’s socio-economic challenges and contribute to the analytical, advocacy and policy advisory work of the Commission.
The Fellowship will be financed by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
According to the announcement, applicants must be nationals of an ECA Member State residing anywhere in the world, be under 40 years of age by the application deadline with women with children considered up to age 45.
They must also have at least seven years of relevant professional experience, hold a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, demonstrate leadership potential, strategic thinking, analytical skills, teamwork and client orientation, and must not be an employee of the United Nations Secretariat or the ECA.
The Ministry said applications must be submitted by 20th November, 2026, with completed application forms to be sent to RecruitmentPPost@un.org, while further information regarding the Fellowship can be obtained at eca.careers@un.org.
