G/AR: Police Arrest Two, Seize 692 Parcels Of Suspected Indian Hemp

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two persons and seized 692 parcels of suspected Indian hemp during a snap-check operation at Dawhenya in the Prampram Division.

Police arrested the suspects, identified as Godwin Asigeh and Freeman Amedoku, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., after intercepting their Ford Transit vehicle, registration number GT 6140-22, which was bound for Accra.

The vehicle was being driven by one Godwin Asigeh, assisted by Freeman Amedoku.

According to a press release signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Tema, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, a search of the vehicle revealed 692 parcels of suspected Indian hemp wrapped in yellow polythene bags.

The suspects, vehicle and substance were conveyed to the Devtraco Police Station.

The release stated that the substance has been retained as an exhibit while the vehicle has been impounded.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Command commended the arresting officers who undertook the operation and assured the public that it will intensify efforts to prevent the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances in the region.
