Educational Reforms Will Have No Effect Without Teachers- Education Ministry

The Ministry of Education has acknowledged that no education reform can succeed without teachers.

It has therefore pledged to strengthen the teaching profession and tackle welfare and working conditions as Ghana marks World Teachers’ Day 2026.

In a press statement issued on October 5, 2026, the Ministry said the government is pursuing an education transformation agenda focused not only on access but on quality, learning outcomes, relevant skills and human capital development, with teachers at the centre.

“Teachers remain at the heart of Ghana’s education system and play a critical role in shaping the minds, character and future of our children,” the statement said.

The Ministry acknowledged the dedication, professionalism and sacrifices of teachers across the country, particularly those serving in deprived and hard-to-reach communities.

It assured that it will continue to work with teachers, their unions and other stakeholders to strengthen the teaching profession, support professional development and address issues affecting welfare and working conditions.

The Ministry also called on parents, communities and all Ghanaians to appreciate and support teachers, describing their work as fundamental to Ghana’s development.

“To every teacher, we say: Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for shaping Ghana’s future,” it added.
