SLTF Provides Bridge Financing to Secure First-Year Admissions Under No Academic Fees Policy

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), under the Ministry of Education, is providing bridge financing to newly admitted first-year students of public universities and public technical universities under the Government’s No Academic Fees Policy.
In a press statement issued on October 5, 2026, the Fund said the intervention has become necessary as the 2026/2027 academic year commences and tertiary institutions require newly admitted students to pay a portion of their fees by a set deadline to confirm their admission.
According to the SLTF, support under the No Academic Fees Policy is paid after institutions submit their admission data and students’ details are validated — a necessary process that takes time.
The bridge financing is therefore designed to bring the academic fee support forward to ensure that no eligible first-year student loses their admission because of fee-payment deadlines.
“In keeping with the No-Fees-Stress agenda of ensuring that financial circumstances do not impede access to tertiary education, the Fund will, upon application by an eligible student, advance the required fee deposit directly to the tertiary institution to secure the student’s admission. The advance will subsequently be reconciled against the coverage due to the student under the No Academic Fees Policy,” the statement said.
The Fund expressed its appreciation to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Vice-Chancellors Ghana, Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities, Ghana, and the leadership of public tertiary institutions for their collaboration and for extending fee-payment deadlines to facilitate the successful implementation of the intervention.
The SLTF encouraged all newly admitted first-year students who require immediate financial support to apply promptly through the No-Fees-Stress Portal at https://nofeesstress.gov.gh to secure their admission and commence their academic journey without financial anxiety.
