Akufo-Addo Wishes Asantehemaa Prosperous Reign

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his felicitations to the 15th Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, wishing her a prosperous reign.
He paid a courtesy call on the newly enstooled Queen at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on October 5, 2026, to formally welcome and congratulate her on her ascension.
“My mission today is one of great joy. I wish you long life and a successful reign for the collective progress of the Asante Kingdom,” he said.
Explaining the timing of his visit, the former President underscored its significance.
“At the time the Asantehene enstooled a new Queen, I was out of the country, so I decided to come as soon as I returned. In Akyem, where I hail from, I have been taught that the Asantehemaa is the head of all women in the Oyoko clan, and so I needed to pay homage,” he said.
The former President was accompanied by his former Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare; former Deputy Chief of Staff, Fawaz Aliu; his Digital Creator, Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe; his Special Assistant, Sheela Sakyi Oppong; and other officials from his office.
The delegation also included former and current constituency and national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
