Gov’t Courts Development Partners for Decentralisation Agenda

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim (MP), has engaged Development Partners and Heads of Departments and Agencies on strengthening collaboration to advance Ghana’s decentralisation and local development agenda.

A Special Breakfast Meeting on Tuesday, September 30, 2026, provided an opportunity for stakeholders to review ongoing programmes, share progress, discuss implementation and funding challenges, and explore opportunities for greater cooperation.

The Minister outlined key priorities, including stronger local revenue mobilisation, improved service delivery, environmental sanitation, digital transformation and local economic development.

Development Partners and Heads of Agencies welcomed the engagement and expressed their readiness to sustain dialogue, share knowledge and strengthen coordination.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of fiscal prudence, effective project implementation and further technical engagements on specific development issues.

The meeting was held under the theme “Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Local Governance and Inclusive Development.”
